VBOT

Meet Vbot. I made her for the Valentine's Day box decorating competition for work. She's made out of an old tissue box, an old trash bag box, and toilet paper rolls... and a few things from my favorite place ever- the hobby lobby!

Terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day

YIKES. Today was really something else. Let's start at about 3:00 am this morning. I woke up to the terrifying sound of a snow storm outside my window.... well.... it's a terrifying sound to me anyway. I hurried and got ready for work (which starts at 5am) so that I would have time to snow-blow the driveway and drive to work... which, on a sunny day, is only 15 minutes away. By 4:00 am my hair was ruined by being out in the snow, but I was ready to go!

Visibility was nearly zero and my car was spinning terribly in the ice and snow as I attempted to slide down to the bottom. At this point, I lost control of my poor car and spun into the guard rail, which then sent me spinning the other direction. Somehow (i really don't know how) I got to the bottom of the mountain alive. I pulled over and checked my vehicle for damage, I didn't see any, so I spun the rest of the way to work..... quite literally spun. several times. Good news is, I still managed to make it to work 5 minutes early!

10:30 am: Once it stopped snowing, I went out to my car to check for damage. There sat a beautiful note on my windshield. A woman visiting the building I work in had spun in the ice, and hit my parked car while I was working. Normally, this would be a bigger deal. But considering everything that happened today, just the fact that she didn't total my car was the highlight of my day. She actually didn't do any damage at all, I let her off the hook. No need to ruin 2 people's days.

12:30 pm: After work I went to drive my car, and realized that my steering wheel was completely facing the wrong direction. I knew it was from hitting the railing this morning, because it was like that after I did it... I had just previously thought that it was the ice and snow that was making my steering crazy. I decided to drive it to the dealership to be fixed. As I drove, I lost complete control of my steering wheel and my car started making a horrible noise.. I pulled off to the shoulder and gave in. Meaning, I called a tow truck driver to save me.

1:30 pm: Tow truck drivers are crappy heroes.

Long story made slightly shorter, the truck driver took my car, and left me stranded on the side of the freeway. I had to hike back in the snow until I reached a grocery store and was able to go inside and get warm again. At this point, I had called my insurance company to come save me.

2:30 pm: Insurance companies are crappy hereos.

Since my insurance company could not save me, I turned to my rental car company. Knowing that Enterprise will pick you up, I told them I needed a ride and a car. I knew for sure that the rental car company would save me!

3:00 pm: Rental car companies are crappy heroes.

They told me it would be about 2 hrs, if they were able to save me at all. This time, I turned to my daddy.

3:30pm: Daddies are fantastic heroes

He called Ford and yelled at them for the not-so-fabulous tow truck driver. They came and rescued me and gave me a rental car.

6:00 pm: I am finally home now. And going to make comfort brownies. The End.

Completely Utarded

Go Utes! I was officially accepted into the University of Utah today. Majoring in Elementary Education of course. I finished 2 years of college in Arizona... Just 2 more years to go! Everything is working out beautifully living here in Utah. I love my job working as a Prescription Specialist at 1-800 Contacts and it works perfectly with my schedule now that school is starting again in May.

I haven't been the most dedicated blogger....considering my last post was in 2009. But I am going to be better this year! 2010 wasn't all that eventful of a year anyway. I did move to Utah though (if you didn't notice), which is incredibly awesome.

My next post is already in the works....think : robot. : )

The adventures of fish sitting

Who knew watching a fish could be so intense? not I. until today that is.. Let me start at the beginning, a very good place to start. :]

First, miss melanie texted me around midnight or so last night asking me to fish sit while she was on vacation. Ergo, this conversation:

Melanie: Feeding him is very difficult

Kristen: Lol crushing the food into the bowl?

Melanie: Yes. if you feed him too much, he'll die. too little-he'll die. And he's pretty much my life so don't kill him.

Kristen: Pressure. Of all the things to be your life.. Your family, your fiance, your best friend....No, its the fish. The tenth fish in a line of dead ones....

Melanie: Yeah pretty much

Kristen: So how do i know ho much is too much? Or too little? And if I do kill him, can I just buy you a better one?

Melanie: Yes. And the size of a dime. or a penny in the morning

Kristen: A penny is bigger than a dime right? And how often do I feed him?

Melanie: Just once

Kristen: So if I only feed him once... Why would it sometimes be a dime and sometimes a penny?

Melanie: No, only once in the morning. No smaller than a dime but no bigger than a penny.

Kristen: You know what, just kill him now. I'm sure its easier on the poor fish than leaving him in my hands. I'll spend the whole week trying to measure a penny of fish food and never actually feed him. JUST KIDDING he will be in (somewhat) capable hands

So only once a day in the morning somewhat larger than a dime while still smaller than a penny. Am i correct?

Melanie: Yes

Kristen: Can I ask just one more question?

Melanie: Yeah

Kristen: Do you remember the exact day you went crazy or is it all just kind of a blur now?

Melanie: I think I've just always been this way.. why do you ask?

Kristen: Oh no reason... I've just never heard of a crazy fish lady before. Normally it has something to do with cats. I commend you though, fish are indeed cleaner and less moody (as far as I can tell)

Thats pretty much it before we changed subjects.

SO TODAY after work I recruited lara to help me bring the fish to my house. He spilt all over me, all over lara, and all over my car [which now stinks of fish]. Lara looked like she wizzed herself, I am just soaked, and poor motototo (so nice you say it twice!) was left with half a bowl of water.

NOW taking bets on when the fish will die. I bet by the time I wake up tomorrow. I have until Monday to keep him alive.

4th of July [and then some]

At the beginning of this week my family and I went to Eagar for the infamous Slade Family Reunion. Casey, Tianna, and I escaped to New Mexico for a day of riding horses (thanks to tianna's wonderful friend who let us borrow a few)! Jeremy, Wendy, Ari, and Lily joined us at the end of the week and I was privileged to have a slumber party with sweet Arianna the night before the parade!

Then off to Payson, where we partied with the Welkers and watched some pretty awesome fireworks. It was a pretty swell week all in all. If anyone is wondering where Lara was this entire time, she was at EFY with Taylor at E.A. having a blast!
